Shulman - Soundscapes and Modern Tales (2002)
Label: Shaffel Records
Catalog#: Shaffel CD 03
Country: Israel
Style: Ambient House, Ambient Techno, Psychedelic
Я не знаю, как всё это обозвать. Могу сказать одно: кому нравится Shpongle - тому понравится, кто Shpongle не слушал - тому тоже понравится. Звук мягче и мелодичнее, потрясающая атмосфера полного погружения.
Psyshop.com info:
Shulman is a completely new Israeli artist...
...that is expected to be one of the most promising new talents to come out of Israel.
Once known as Mental Orange a former trance artist, Shulman entrenched long hours in his studio aiming to create a completely different kind of concept of production - crossing over the borders of trance entering the ambient side of electronic music, with a strong presence of ethnic elements - his debut album is the Israeli answer to Shpongle!
psyreviews.com review:
this oddly-titled, oddly-packaged and (spiritually) oddly-scented release from shulman is a delight. whether you like to think of it as one man’s soundtrack to an increasingly crazy world, or (like me) you prefer to think of it as music made by some kooky alien chaps (like the star wars cantina band messing about with cubase), its quirky headiness and rootsy beauty are magic. on tunes like small grey creatures and avant garden, shulman creates a sublime unfolding atmosphere and almost manages to out-shpongle shpongle. he brings in huge beats (aion), trip dub (take a walk outside) and even offers half a nod to the dancefloor (fromage). overlook the nasty taste of jan hammer-esque vibraphone in shiogo, and instead divert your spliffy attention to the filtered arpeggios, cut up vocals and cute dubby reflections that make this an album to soak up and enjoy. The fractal alien chorus singing yogic mantras (really) on elements will make you weep, and the knowing and meditative groove throughout this album is world class. love it.
mushroom-online.com review:
This CD makes it impossible not to fly away and dream once launched in a CD-player. This is truly the most impressing work I´ve heard since Shpongle, which is the most enlightening piece of music ever in my opinion. Maybe Simon Posford Raja Ram and Yaniv Shulman will once work together, creating the music for the new coming level of spirituality on this planet. Until than „Soundscpapes and modern tales is a masterpiece of electronic/analog ambient music and once again Shaffel gives a reference for mastering good audio material, thank you so much. I like every song of this CD, because they all have different moods, styles of arrangement and little stories to tell, what makes hearing this CD delighting journey of audiophile experience.
