Дебютный и пока единственный альбом бельгийского проекта Lani, вышедший 23 июля прошлого года на почти неизвестном у нас лейбле Kairoo Records. Отличный альбом, красивый позитивный мелодичный пситранс.

История создания проекта Lani:
Lani was founded in Belgium in 2001 by Tim Kaelen and Tom Moons. The idea behind this project was to make psychedelic trance in its full glory, for the newcomers among us around the century change there was some very scary dark music around, and people forgot about the light in life, therefore Tom aka Dj Jharu searched for a companion for this mission, on a Getafix party in Belgium we got fixed!. We jammed around for a saturday afternoon and knew from that time on that we should stick together, the start for the Mission of light had begun.
Lani , is hawïan for sunbeams, for us Lani is also a person, it is the first child of Tom's friends Toon & Leslie, Toon is the man who started their first band togehter with Tom, called Extempore, at the age of 15, friends for life with no comprimises. Because we really liked the name Lani, and the fact it meant sunbeams, we decided to call our project Lani, for the sun and due to great respect for Lani, the cutest child in the world.
Tim who is definatly the technical rythem enhancer of the team started out playing bass guitar somewhere in the beginning of the nineties, mostle playing rock covers as a very young teenager. He quickly decided one instrument wasn't enough for him and started experimenting with electronic music, his first instrument was a Roland Groovebox MC-303. This was so much better than just a bass guitar, percission and everything!! He soon started collecting more equipment (AN1X, MC-505) and also started using software sequencers (Logic 2.0, only midi, no audio yet). After this the ball got rolling, he experimented with trip-hop, drum and bass, ambient, and finally techno. Techno was is those days a lot different, more melodic and open than it is now. He started dj-ing techno back in 1998 and also had a live project called Yucon. It had a short life, because he was always open to new electronical and analog music, and inspired by all the good sounds around on mother earth... and short after this in 1999 he went to his first trance party, what an eye-opener!!! In this kind of music, everything was possible!! And then, in 2001, he met Tom...
Tom Started out as a guitar player at the age of 12 , starting his first band at the age of 15, called Extempore, together with some friends he played punk rock, later on at the age of 17 he started a Hardcore metal band called Diph Thong, and did a few collaborations with Hate Factor Nine... he recorded 2 live demo's and 1 studio demo with those bands, however... Jimmy quit, Joey got married.... From this time on he saw that it was very hard to rehearse with many people and decided to go for a solo dj project, it wasn't making music, but something that one can do alone and express ideas in order to make people have a good time... He started as a techno-trance-commercial-party dj at the local party's in the near villages. He discovered Psychedelic trance at its purest in the forests of the Ardennes in Belgium back in 1998. The day after this unbelievably enlightning experience he started to go for this new style of music like nothing before, his dream was to dj at the Dance-a-delic festival at some point in his live...after one year of practicing and hanging out in the scene he got his first chance to play there, although he didn't thought he was ready to play there, he got help from Glenn Keteleer to complete this project to a good end, what a weekend it was! Some might still remember the sun eclipse back in 1999... Jharu and Garobla was the name of the dj team, but soon after this Glenn got to busy being an international techno artist and with no hard feelings they went their own path. Over the years he earned his place in the psy-trance scene as Dj Jharu in the land of light, Belgium, supported a lot by Pat "Gowax" Db and the Lunatrix crew...
Tom then introduced Tim as a dj in the belgian psy-trance scene as DJ Phasid. Not only playing alone, but also together they had the chance to play many gigs and dj at many parties. Over the years they got the chance to meet many well known trance artists, and some of them became good friends learning them the way to create Psychedelic Trance.
At the end of 2002 Tom and Sven 'Kairon' started the idea of Kairoo records, a new recordstore and label in our little country. Tom got to involved into Lani and Kairoo records is now also run by Bart 'Moose', supporting Lani in full force...
We started making this album after a couple of live-sets in belgium. People were very interested in hearing our music at home and asked us where they could buy our music...
Our way to the sun means for us a way to get to the sun. This can be a trip to the sun somewhere on a nice place with palm trees and cocktails and nothing but happy people on their most beautiful side. This is also a trip to our inner sun, a way to bring more light into your life. Let the light shine through your eyes and ears when you are happy or sad to get you back into that sunny mood...
Iry's Incantion (Dolphinride mix):The first track on the album is a track that was well appreciated on the belgian dancefloors in the winter of 2003... Harry is a party organizer in our little country Belgium and also a very wicked chill out dj who was there in the first days of belgian psychedelic trance scene, his dj name is "Iry", he is the one who's given us as Dj Jharu and Dj Phasid our first chance to play at a tranceparty... and therefore also one of the founders of Lani and a very good and respected friend of the band. We believe that he made an incantion to the sun and lights in our life by giving us this chance and supporting together with Dimi and Kitty from Lunatrix us and Lani for years and years ... The voice sample on this track was recorded in the summer mood of 2002 by a visiting traveller called Aoife Reilly, who says in Irisch Keltic, that you are all 100000 times welcome in this world, and wishes you all the best for your family and friends.(also on 12'' vinyl KAI002).
Indian:Indians are the most spiritual beings among our species we believe, many among us could learn a lot from their inner peace and their love for a good live , anyone can see and live in peace if only everybody at least tried to work together.... Helping your friends and family on to a better life for everybody, see it through the eyes of the Indian.
Skycontact (original):This track we made after we had the first contact with some of the finest psytrance artists from around the world. Before this the scene in Belgium was very small and could not handle international guest artists, we had to go to other countries across Europe to see some live acts and to get some musical experience, we had to learn almost everything ourselves. It was a long way to get our ideas written and recorded onto a sequencer, but one day we made contact, skycontact...
El paso:A few years ago we had to play in a cowboy and indian village that is recreated here in belgium, Lunatrix organizers had the crazy idea of trowing a party in western style, and this was for sure a psychedelic western for us.... the village was called EL PASO and definately left it's mark on us...
Part of a design:We started this track after our recordstore Kairoo records gave it's first year anniversary Party in the Skateplanet in Antwerp, we were lucky enough to play on that night together with Xerox and Psycraft, both very respected israeli trance artists. This experience was both for the label and Lani a step further into a part of our design , to create the new happy vibes and good moods on the planet earth.
Our way to the sun:When we close our eyes and think of the sun we feel warm and happy inside, we want to reach for it wishing it would shine all the time. In our country there isn't much sun available throughout the year, but there are better and worse places. Since we put all our efforts into music we didn't had the chance to visit the sun so we started to look for the sun in music, just creating that warm sunny feeling... It did many great things for us and leaded us to where we are now, on our way to the sun. We want to give you this feeling and let you see the sun thru music.
Over the Moon:On our way to the sun we need to go over the moon, you can be over the moon when you had a good vibe with an other creature on this planet or when someting wonderfull just happened in you life, it can bring you in a stage of extasy. Being open and friendly to other people and things opens this door for everybody a lot easier, being this all the time can and will be a hard job but in the end it will be worth it to go over the moon.
Ephedra:We created this track in the full on rush that life is today, because of the pressure in life and the pressure on people we believe that music has to go above it all to let things go and come to an extatic ephedra rush.
There are a lot of different parts in this track, all based on different moods while making it.

To start why Lani more goa than other fullon imho are???
First they used several layers what one of the main elements of goatrance is. Mystic environment which hangs there and is created by the intro's which you in music let slide slowly (like at mystica) and with outro's which you good-natured let slip. The emphasis lies on melody… What splendid is… Fullon with the emphasis on melody and on the bass line… and as last factor lani do not tell a tale what me does think surreptitiously of a lot of goatrance releases of Astral projection, Electric Universe, Chi-AD, Mystica, The Muses Rapt and etc…
Lani really is morning fullon commonly are being appropriate within the concept of 2003-2004-2005. I nevertheless see on that their bass lines are not typical such as astrix but slightly tapping and strongly motivating… Lani show our indeed the way to the sun and are upliftend, constructive & melodic from the first up to the last minute… Which the morning love these release highly are able appreciate… Lani take along you on a travel with their travelling sound' which laughs uncontained your face processes… Our way to the sun create lord activity, it makes an environment to predict what reaches and you will occupy ongoing…
Iry's Incantation are the first number and directly a perfectly start block-system… It is a slower number what I appreciate highly… Very good intro and very convincing voice samples, however are not I for voice samples but these are strongly short & and do not irritate me certainly. Iry's play indication with your idea pace… On the 4th minute I shoot just as the light nitzhonot tune that is there just as thrown between but the intensely melodious climax draws me entirely further… Strongest point of this number is the clincher… Unexpectedly and elegantly weeping for more this number finishes silence with a seconde…
Indian starts with a something quicker bass line with first number but nevertheless not dominant. The sample I'm just giving them what they are appropriate want' again perfectly and represent indeed what we want… on 4:47 start an euphoric melody with all impact of serve.
Skycontact are very constructive and have goatrance influence which does feel great. The melodious wave leave in one large line and continue increase and decrease and stop with the bass line. This is nice wave correctly such as we there former thousands had. Climax of this number is unexecpt but strongly guitarsample which is very pure and imho leave skazi and talamasca behind itself… The perfection is the bass change during the guitarsample which the powereffect double and very strongly the riffs do happen.
Ell Paso has pleasant subtle guitarsamples which does us keep still dreaming concerning the climax of skyscontact. The melodies are something more cheezy and balance nevertheless what remains on the edge but certainly enjoyable.
Part of A Design for me is the best number. Again the subtle gitaarsamples create the environment for the more + nevertheless striking motivating bass line… At this moment sitting down isn’t possible ? I no longer can’t sit and must stand and dance As from 3minuut 30 second the sky for me opens and has I no words which can describe this climax… It speaks, it lives… as a dirigent predicts I every wave and psychedelic sound which all descend rolling on me…
Our Way To The Sun starts with a wood a walk in the wood bass line witch is very good but then change gear then pitty enough concerning to ordinary straight fullon bass line… This number finds I it lowest of the complete release imho….
Concerning The Moon this a type remix of the first number is but the first number is much improves…. it is a faster version and more melodic but does not happen this way good because you compare everything with the first number. The outro are, however, again complete strong and represent by and electric guitar like in mystica - 5am…
Ephedra are the last number and no ambient number although I am nevertheless curious to possible ambient number of lani… Ephedra are strongly constructive but the climax speaks me not this way to… The outro with piano are super …
Conclusion: for me there no bad numbers here and are lani is the proof that fullon really goa can be inspired be. Is something negative to lani??? However, against the end of the cd you had it a bit but that characteristic I have that with a lot of goa albums therefore yes…
I can say only proficiat with your unique sound… We have been of course aroused curiosity to a second album but in my opinion you will have to bring something new concerning the bridge must come because this sound has entirely milked dry you (what I find not negative) but this is possible on one cd but not on two natural imho…
