Дебютный альбом греческого музыканта и продюсера Vasilis Sagonas aka V-Sag.
What do you get when you combine a greek producer (called V-Sag) with a japanese singer (under the name of: Tomomi Ukumori) and another north american hot chick dj/producer (called DJ Keri). You get a debute album from one of Greece finest progressive/electronic producers.Vasilis Sagonas (aka V-Sag) was born on January 28, 1983 in Larissa, Greece. Music has always been a part of his life, having formed a strong understanding and appreciation for it even as a young child. His two older sisters, also passionate towards music, nurtured his enthusiasm and influenced his tastes from an early age. While growing up, he studied the piano for nearly 6 years, which formalized his knowledge of music theory. In 1998, he purchased his first computer to start composing his own electronic music.Eight years later his debute album finaly see’s light. “His vision is to express his feelings; to make people understand his music and the way he wants to feel when he is on the dancefloor. ” quoted from this dj/producer. Sharing my personal view on this cd i simply cannot the fact that V-Sag has a beautifull way of expressing his feelings. It’s been a while since I had a album with a lowtempo progressive sound. But managing to keep me listening again and again and again all over. The variaty of tracks never get boring, there are no moments of skipping a track forward because it’s one compleet tracklist with different productions. And therefor every single track sounds different but keeps you listening. That does not change the fact that this album sounds like a mixcd of tracks. Which can be considered a good thing, listening to the melodic intro track “V-Sag - A Day Before” brings up the right mood. One which can be considered as enjoying in a beautifull oase of nature. But after that V-Sag manages to lift it up a level every time a track changes to a higher atmosphere untill you feel like dancing in a club or at a rave. One of the tracks which hypes the energy in your body is “V-Sag - Waterfall”. Starting with a melodic guitar sound, you get taken away into a state of mind where it goes faster and harder. The vocals from DJ Keri are truly amazing, hearing those vocals on these tracks make you shiver. It might seem to good to be true, but for a debute album this is magnificant. Every piece fits together and makes one perfect match. V-Sag - Fantasy Era is a must have for every uplifting progressive lover. Are you a person who loves to dream away on melodic guitar strings followed by up-tempo beats surrounded by vocals from a hot chick and great dj/producer. Then this is your must have cd by V-Sag on the Planetworks label.
Interview to Sol Solar Corp Argentinian booking agency (February 2006)
*Hi Vasilis, how are you? Tell us, if you can, what are you working on at this moment and which labels are you working with?
Hello, I am very well thank you. I am working the last months on my full album which will be released around in april in greece and various stores via internet. I have many collaborations in labels like L2Music, Swift Records, Pure Substance, Audiotherapy, Vapour, Fiberlineaudio, Local Underground, Planetworks and other independent labels. I have also done remixes for labels like Baroque, Babylon, Nascent and SentientAudioCollective.
*Tell us, if possible, a little bit of the label you run with Tarkan (NO SMOKING Recordings), how did the idea come up and who are the artists you are working with.
We are truly believing in independent music, with no need for using any kind of chemicals, including smoking drugs or even alcohol. This idea came up while we were discussing the ways we wanted to express our music by making a label. We both dont smoke or use any kind of chemicals so it was inevitable! Hoping that people will follow us, we'll make sure to provide with the best deep, tribal and progressive house music. We are working with artists like Damian DP, Drive and others who we cannot reveal at the moment, but we will tell you more soon!
*When you work together with Tarkan, which is Vasili's part and Tarkan's part (for eg. Tarkan does the bassline and you work on melodies)
There is no specific things we each other do, we both create everything who will come up. we share our ideas and feelings and put them all together in one track. I could say that Tarkan is having the best understanding for the flow and feeling of the track, and I am using my knowledge for melodies and stuff like pianos.
*Which soft do you use to make music?
I am using various software, but the main sequence is Cubase SX and Reason 3. I'm using various tools for mixing and finalizing the mastering of my tracks.
*Which are you world top producers and why?
This is a difficult question. I could say that I've always been following Deep Dish, since they have made some of the best progressive house tracks in the world, and it's not luck that they've been nominated for many awards. Other producers i really love are Chris Micali, G-Pal, Sultan, Tone Depth, Matthew Decay and many others i really can't say now because we're gonna finish tommorow!
*And from Argentina?
Argentina has some of the best talents worldwide nowadays, and I have to say that you must feel proud for them. I can easily mention Hernan Cattaneo, Martin Garcia, Deep Mariano, Damian DP, Darioef, Juangos Laz, Facundo Mohrr, Totem Pole, Nicholas Coronel, Nicholas Van Orton and many-many others that should forgive me if I forget:)
*What do you know about the argentinian dance scene?
Honestly all I know are from DJ Tarkan's experience, when he was playing, the crowd was consentrating to the music, dancing and understanding the flow. but I also hear from my argentinian friends that people love progressive and generally know about music very much. When Tarkan Your club scene is one of the best world wide!
*Why do you think that when you ask clubbers, at least here in Argentina, about producers, they always name greeks, turks or argentinians. What makes producers from this nationalities similar.
For my personal opinion, those nationalities are into deep, tribal and progressive house music more than other countries. Probably because all the big djs from this country continue to support this style, and people also keep following them.
*Which are your plans for the future?
I have no long term plans, but i'll just keep making music, and of course start soon producing my second album. Hopefully, next year i'll have a residency to a known club in greece and also continue supporting and releasing tracks with Tarkan for our label.
*Are you willing to come to Argentina, which are your expectations towards that?
There are no plans at the moment, but hopefully this year i will participate in some parties in argentina and south america. Nothing is sure yet, but of course I'm hoping to visit this country since I have so many friends and people I'd like to meet.
*Always a pleasure Vasilis, thanks a lot for your time and we wish to have you here soon
Thank you too, and for this interview opportunity. It's been a pleasure to share my thoughts with you.
