Windows XP post-sp2 updates pack представляет из себя собрание обновлений для Windows XP и всех её компонентов, вышедших после Service Pack 2 for Windows XP на момент сборки, снабженных общим инсталятором.
Для чего это нужно? Ведь можно без проблем обновляться с Windows Update? Все правильно, но:
1. Есть еще такие личности, которые жмутся на трафик для обновлений
2. Есть админы и прочие системщики, вынужденные устанавливать апдейты на кучу систем, зачастую офлайновых.
3. Не все патчи появляются на WU :)
Для полноты картины рекомендую установить:
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
Windows Media Player 10
Английский пак содержит больше патчей, чем русский. Потому как не для всех патчей делают локализованные версии. Буду своевременно обновлять.
По поводу нумераций версии: Первая цифра - номер сервиспака, на который нужно ставить обновления, вторая - количество обновлений в паке.

8 февраля Microsoft планирует опубликовать 13 новых патчей
На следующей неделе Microsoft опубликуют 13 новых патчей, из них 9 — для Windows.
Остальные 4 патча предназначены для других приложений — от Visual Studio до MSN Messenger.
Как сообщает ZDNet, как минимум один патч для Windows латает дыру, которой присвоена высшая степень опасности.
Предварительное сообщение о выходе патчей — новое в информационной политике Microsoft. Как сообщил представитель компании, это делается для того, чтобы пользователи продуктов корпорации были максимально осведомлены о выходящих заплатках.
На подходе также заплатка, которая устраняет дыру «средней степени опасности» в .Net Framework.

у меня не инсталлируется. Через, буквально, минуту всё замирает (первый раз ещё подождал минут двадцать) и приходится ребутиться.
Система:
Microsoft Windows XP/2002 Professional (Win32 x86) 5.01.2600 (Service Pack 2)
Что мне делать?
